Privacy, Terms, and
the fine print.

Last updated: June 29, 2026. Designed to satisfy Google Play, App Store, GDPR, and CCPA requirements.

1. Privacy Policy

VibeSpot ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, with whom we share it, and the choices you have. By using VibeSpot, you agree to this policy.

What we collect

  • Account data: email, name (optional), bcrypt-hashed password. We never store your raw password.
  • Profile data: niches and platforms you select.
  • Location data: latitude/longitude OR a manually-entered place name — only when you tap "Scout this area" or "Plan my day". Never collected in the background.
  • Usage data: ideas generated, saved, marked complete, dismissed; folder names; daily counters.
  • Device data: Expo push token (only if you enable push), device locale, advertising ID (free tier only, for AdMob frequency capping).
  • Payment data: Stripe processes all billing. We see only the subscription tier and renewal date — never your card number.

How we use it

  • Generate personalized content ideas tuned to your niche and location.
  • Enforce free/paid/pro daily idea limits.
  • Deliver opt-in push notifications.
  • Serve rewarded ads on the free tier via Google AdMob.
  • Debug, prevent abuse, improve recommendations.

Your rights

Under GDPR (EU) and CCPA (California), you have the right to: access your data, correct it, delete it, and opt out of any sale of personal information (note: we do not sell personal info). To exercise any right, email info@thevibespotapp.com.

2. Terms of Service

By installing or using VibeSpot, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU). If you're under 18, your parent or legal guardian must accept these terms on your behalf.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your password secure. Notify us immediately if your account is compromised.

Acceptable use

  • Don't try to break or reverse engineer the app.
  • Don't use VibeSpot to generate hateful, illegal, or sexually explicit content.
  • Don't scrape or republish our AI-generated ideas at scale without written permission.

Subscriptions & billing

Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Cancel anytime via Settings → Manage plan. You'll keep paid features until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are reviewed case-by-case; we generally honor refund requests within 7 days of charge — just email us.

AI-generated content disclaimer

Ideas generated by VibeSpot are produced by large language models and may occasionally be inaccurate, repetitive, or unsuitable for a venue. You are responsible for verifying that any idea complies with venue rules and local laws before filming. We are not liable for content you publish based on our suggestions.

Intellectual property

You retain all rights to videos you create. The VibeSpot trademark, logo, app code, and UI are owned by us.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VibeSpot is provided "as is." Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is capped at the amount you paid us in that period.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time (see §9). We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where VibeSpot is incorporated. Disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration where permitted by law.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via push or email. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.

3. Cookie Notice

This website (thevibespotapp.com) uses minimal cookies:

  • Strictly necessary: a session cookie remembers if you've dismissed the cookie banner.
  • Analytics (optional): if we add analytics in the future, you'll see a banner with an opt-out option before any non-essential cookies are set.

The mobile app does not use cookies (it uses encrypted token-based storage instead).

4. Data Collection Practices

Here is the complete inventory of data we collect, mapped to Google Play's Data Safety taxonomy:

  • Email address — required for account management, never shared.
  • Name — optional, used for personalization, never shared.
  • User ID — auto-generated, required for app functionality and fraud prevention.
  • Password — stored bcrypt-hashed only; never readable, never shared.
  • Approximate & precise location — only when you tap Scout/Plan. Sent to OpenAI as text ("Times Square, NY") and to Google Places as coordinates.
  • App interactions — saves, skips, expands. Used to improve recommendations.
  • In-app search history — recent locations, for quick reuse.
  • Push token — only if you enable notifications. Shared with Expo + Apple/Google push services.
  • Advertising ID — free tier only, for AdMob frequency capping. Shared with Google AdMob.

We do not collect photos, audio, video, files, calendar, contacts, health data, or financial info (Stripe handles billing in isolation).

All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS. Passwords are encrypted at rest via bcrypt.

5. Location Permissions

VibeSpot uses foreground-only location. We never request background location.

On Android, we request ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION and ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION with the justification: "Generate content ideas based on where you are."

On iOS, we request NSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription with the same justification.

You can also type any address manually — location permission is fully optional.

6. AdMob Disclosure

On the free tier, VibeSpot shows rewarded ads only via Google AdMob (no banner ads, no interstitials, no auto-play video). Watching a rewarded ad grants you +2 bonus content ideas, up to 3 ads per day.

AdMob may use your device's advertising ID to limit ad frequency and serve relevant ads. Review or reset your ad ID:

  • Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → "Delete advertising ID"
  • iOS: deny App Tracking Transparency when prompted

Read Google's full ad policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Authorized seller declaration: see app-ads.txt.

7. Google Maps Usage

VibeSpot uses the Google Maps Places API to resolve coordinates to nearby venue names. By using VibeSpot's Scout or Plan features, you also agree to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy:

We send only coordinates or a place query to Google. We do not share your VibeSpot user ID, name, or email.

8. OpenAI Usage

Content ideas are generated by OpenAI's GPT-5.2 model. We send:

  • Your selected niches (e.g., "food", "travel")
  • Your selected platforms (e.g., "tiktok", "reels")
  • The venue or place name being scouted (e.g., "Hard Rock Cafe, Times Square")
  • The current date (for trend freshness)

We do not send your email, name, user ID, or any other identifying information. OpenAI processes these requests under their API data usage policies: API data is not used to train OpenAI's models.

9. Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your VibeSpot account at any time:

  • In-app: Open the app → You tab → scroll down → tap "DELETE MY ACCOUNT" → confirm by typing your email and the phrase "DELETE MY ACCOUNT".
  • By email: send a deletion request from your account email to info@thevibespotapp.com. We process within 7 days.

Account deletion removes: your user record, saved ideas, folders, scout locations, recent searches, push token, notification prefs, idea history, and ad-unlock records. We retain only anonymized, aggregated analytics that cannot be traced back to you.

Note: cancelling your account does not automatically cancel an active Stripe subscription. Cancel the subscription first via Settings → Manage plan, then delete your account.
